Spring break!

Well, this is going to be really fun for once. RIT started a week late, and so my spring break actually lines up with other schools’. Most importantly, it lines up with BU.

So, Lindsay gets to spend Spring break with me!

I’ve been trying to think about things that we can do while she’s here. Strong Museum (has antique toys and dolls), Frederick Douglas House, Canada, Highland Park (if weather is nice), some other neat historical sites, and of course just hanging out.
Personally, I can’t wait. It will be absolutely wonderful to be able to spend time with her when I’m not stressing out over school or work :)

Being with Lindsay is wonderful, and I don’t say that enough. I really do love her.

I was greatly disheartened when I found out that the March for Life in DC, an event I had been looking forward to since the beginning of the school year, would require me to miss class. I had originally made the decision not to go because, well, I’m me and I don’t miss class. Ever. However, my passion for pro-life issues and my desire to go on the march won over my Hermione-like school paranoia in the end. Hours before the bus left for DC I made the final decision to go, but only after hastily typing some emails to professors and making arrangements. In the end I was where I should have been and I am so incredibly thankful for it. The March for Life was such an amazing experience – words cannot even begin to express how beautiful the occasion was. It warmed my heart to witness so many people united together in such a noble purpose, people who, like myself, cherish life at all stages and want to see it protected. It was a very wonderful day, and an experience I can’t wait to repeat!

I will post more about my little pilgrimage later. :)

Senior project. Grr. That is all I can publicly say about that. It is driving me crazy. At least my RIT group has got it together – I can’t say the same for our faculty advisor, and lately the sponsors have been irritating. Our client is great, though.

Work is going to be interesting over the next few weeks. We’re about to start on a couple projects, and I just made a proposal for a web-based UI architecture to replace the horrid C-coded (with no ++) Motif screens that they access by using Exceed (a X-Window server for Windows). So I’ll probably have to explain everything to everyone. Maybe they’ll pay me more – this was something that was talked about for at least a year, but everyone was too afraid to try because nobody knew what to do (after all, the web came about AFTER the late 1980s programming style that they like to vigorously stick to).

Also, I want to make a headphone amp. Because, you know, these aren’t good enough on their own.

Secret Agent Man?

As you may know or have read, Steven is a Software Engineer. He learns about (and I quote), “…software architecture, high level design, enterprise information systems, requirements engineering, verification & validation, and all sorts of neat things.”

I have no idea what that means. At all.

I haven’t the slightest clue what my boyfriend does. I asked him and he tried explaining it to me but to no avail. I’m not entirely sure whether that makes me a bad girlfriend or just stupid, but it lets me have fun making up occupations when people ask me what he does.
