This is going to be short tonight; I’m giving a talk on the Eucharist for RCIA tomorrow evening, and I have a week full of intensive thesis work ahead of me (I have to submit it to my examiners the 20th).
I had a few things I wanted to say, but I think I’ll save them for Friday’s Seven Quick takes. Being that it’s Veterans’ Day, I think I’ll keep this post simple and simply say that to all veterans–past, present and future–from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Those two words say so very little but express so very much. I have no misgiving that I would not have the lifestyle that I do were it not for the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to providing it for me. Sacrifices have been made that I will never know, much less understand. I take it for granted frequently, but I have no doubt that were it taken it away the effects would be vast.
I would also like to thank the family members of veterans. It’s always one thing to go out and put yourself in danger, but it’s another to watch someone you love dearly put their own life in danger. I can’t begin to understand the day-to-day anxiety and pain that unleashes, but it would be remiss to ignore the sacrifices you, too, make for the greater good. Thank you for your selfless love.
Lovely post.
